Chaplain Alden J. Thibeau was born and raised in Levant, Maine. In 1969 he graduated as salutatorian of his class from Faith School of Theology, Brookline, Maine.  For many years he taught Sunday school classes from 6^th grade to senior adults as well as teaching Bible Studies in two large churches.  He was an associate pastor to seniors as well as a volunteer for many years.  Employed since 2005 chaplain Alden serves full time at Crystal Care Centers.  His first love has always been to help the elderly.  He and his wonderful wife and helpmate Glenda minister regularly at our Centers.  They also put on seminars to train others to minister in long-term care facilities.  For more information on upcoming seminars please call Chaplain Thibeau at 419-747-2666 or 419-281-9595.

 Crystal Care Center of Mansfield:     Tiffany Behrendsen is the Director of Nursing at Crystal Care Center of Mansfield and has been employed with us for 13 years.  Tiffany graduated from Med Central school of Nursing in 1994 with her RN degree and in 1999 obtained her Bachelors degree in nursing from Ashland University.  Tiffany has worked for over 20 years in the healthcare field.  She admits that her goal in life is to provide her residents and her staff a high quality place to call home and work.  Tiffany decided to obtain her Nursing Home Administrators license in 2004.  Tiffany stated “it’s important to care for our residents like they are our family”.  In 2004 another dream of improving health care for seniors was made possible under the careful guidance of friend and mentor Jerry Smith, LNHA and owner of Crystal Care Centers.  Tiffany was able to open Companions of Ashland HomeCare and Nurse Aide Training center.  Her home care company helps work with patients still in their homes and the training center helps bring new people into the healthcare field.  Tiffany loves to mentor new staff and share her knowledge of long term care.  Tiffany’s proudest career moment was watching her 17 yr old son graduate from nurse aide classes and begin working in long term care right by her side.  Tiffany lives in Ashland with her 2 sons and enjoys all outdoors activities.  If you need more information about all of the opportunities in long-term care call her personally at 419-606-5176.

    Crystal Care Center is locally owned and operated by health professionals with over 25 years of experience. This experience gives the facility the insight to understand the needs of the residents and affords them the best possible care.     Jerry Smith, formed Crystal Care Centers in 1992.  Jerry has been a licensed Nursing Home Administrator since 1979. During his tenure, he has served as Administrator, Consultant, and Regional V.P. with major national companies.    After becoming disenchanted with the philosophy of corporate management, Jerry made the decision to form his own company where he would put the residents first.      Crystal Care Center of Mansfield was purchased in January 1993, followed by Crystal Care Center of Portsmouth in March of 1993 and Crystal Care Center of Ashland in 2002.  His wife Susan, daughters Kyann, Mindy and Jennifer along with “Butch”& Tony Clark, Kim Nye and Kathy Kolesar are all active shareholders.      Currently, the Crystal Care family collectively employs over 300 personnel including doctors, nurses and other professionals and support staff.  The Residents and Staff of Crystal Care Centers remain the focus of the Smith’s attention, as was the goal from the beginning!    The Crystal Care facilities have grown within the past two years to become a 74 bed skilled nursing facility in Mansfield and a 72 bed skilled nursing facility in Ashland.  Our belief is growing older should include being treated with dignity and respect along with living in a homelike environment.  With this in mind all of our new rooms are private.  Added to the private rooms that were already in each center, Crystal Care Center of Mansfield now offers 56 private rooms and Crystal Care Center of Ashland now offers 42 private rooms.     Even though the care in our facilities rank within the highest in the state, because we are family owned and operated we are able to keep our daily rates among the lowest in the counties we serve.    Crystal Care continues to follow our residents after discharge with a new Outpatient Therapy department in our Ashland Center, our in home care company Crystal Care Companions and new to our family, Maria Manor, a Crystal Care Senior Independent Living Community located in Lexington, Ohio.
